There's something wonderful about stepping away from the car and exploring on foot. You get to experience the area at a slower pace—and sometimes those quiet moments become your favourite memories from the trip.

What I loved most about our visit was that Cape Forchu didn't feel like a place you simply "check off" your list.

It's a place to linger.

Walk the trails. Climb the lighthouse. Take far too many pictures. Browse the gift shop. Enjoy the views. Breathe in the salty air.

These are the kinds of stops that make a Nova Scotia road trip special.

If you're exploring the Yarmouth area, I would definitely put Cape Forchu Lighthouse on your itinerary. Give yourself enough time to explore rather than simply stopping for a quick photo.

Because sometimes the best road trip memories come from the places where you decided to stay a little longer.
